Paris, the ‘City of Light’, is a wonderful metropolis, with every period of its long and eventful history represented in some of Europe’s most famous and iconic monuments and institutions. From older attractions like the great Notre Dame Cathedral and the old stone bridges over the Seine to modern buildings such as the Eiffel Tower, Musee d’Orsay and the Palais Garnier Opera House, there’s something for everyone here. A particular pleasure is spending an afternoon in the boutique outlets of the Champs-Elysees.

Arriving in Paris

Auckland International airport is the largest and busiest commercial and passenger hub in New Zealand, serving over nine million international and seven and a half million domestic passengers every year.

Modern and recently updated, the airport welcomes passengers from all over the world, and because of New Zealand’s location, sees a very high volume of long-haul passengers.

Auckland is a key transport hub in the Pacific region, and passengers flying from Auckland with Qatar Airways will find it to be a friendly, welcoming and very well-organised airport.

Transportation and parking

Auckland International airport is well served by public transport, with regular buses running every 20-30 minutes from the centre of Auckland. Look for Airbus and Maxx services, which also interconnect with other locations including Albany, Botany and Pakuranga. Shuttle buses run between most large hotels and the airport, and your hotel concierge will be able to provide you with timetables.

Taxi ranks are also located to the west of the International terminal building and a taxi journey from the centre of Auckland should take approximately 30 minutes, depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.

Limousines are also available for hire. Parking at the airport is plentiful with both short- and long-term options, undercover parking with high security, and a valet parking service.

Arriving at the airport

Passengers flying from Auckland with Qatar Airways depart from the International Terminal departure area. The international departure area is located on the upper level of the Terminal, and is connected via escalators and elevators. It is a very large building, so it is important to ensure you are in the correct part of the terminal and to leave yourself plenty of time to get to your check-in desk.

Security can be very tight, so allow approximately two hours before your flight is due to board to clear check-in and security checks.

Facilities and amenities

Auckland International airport has excellent facilities, with over 100 shops on-site and plenty of food and drink outlets too. One unique feature of the airport is a shopping collection point, where goods bought elsewhere in New Zealand from participating shops can be sent straight to the airport, to be collected before you fly out.

Food options include premium-quality sushi and Asian cuisine, through to on-the-go snacks and coffee outlets. For business travellers there are two large conference rooms in the international terminal building, and additional meeting rooms throughout the airport. Spacious VIP lounges are available for First and Business Class passengers.

Flying from Osaka

Osaka Kansai International Airport is one of two air hubs serving the huge city of Osaka, but is the only one offering international flight availability.

Passengers flying from Osaka with Qatar Airways should note that the closer Osaka International Airport only provides a domestic service, so it is important to arrive at the correct airport to catch your flight.

Colloquially known as Kankū in Japanese, this is one of Japan’s busiest air travel centres, and as you would expect is exceptionally well run, clean and efficient. Flights from Osaka are a pleasure, and the highly professional staff are attentive and determined to provide you with a memorable and stress-free start to your journey.

Transportation and parking

Japan is renowned for its incredible transport infrastructure, and provision to and from the airport is exceptional. You can choose from a selection of rail, bus, shuttle and even ferry options, with most journeys taking no more than an hour from the centre of the city.

The West Japan Railway Company and Nankai Railways all offer either direct or connecting services to the airport, while buses run from all the major hotels in Osaka directly to the terminals.

Taxis are plentiful and take around 50 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

Parking is good with two multi-storey car parks at Terminal 1, as well as three additional open air car parks, one opposite Terminal 2. All car parks offer both short and long-term stays.

Arriving in Osaka

Passengers flying from Osaka with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 1. It is important to check the boards on arrival to determine whether you should check-in at the North or South end of the building. Check at any of the information centres located on the first, second and fourth floors.

Terminal 1 is the longest passenger terminal in the world (1.1miles end to end), but fortunately a people mover system called the Wing Shuttle makes getting around much easier.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities at the airport are exceptionally good. There are plenty of ATMs and a full size bank offering a wide range of financial services is on the second floor in T1.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport, and there are @Stations offering 24-hour internet access too, as well as mobile phone hire. Food and drink is plentiful, ranging from traditional Japanese dishes such as sushi and sashimi, through to the usual fast food outlets and international cuisine.

A large retail hall provides passengers with everything from clothes, luxury goods and electronics through to Duty Free and travel essentials.

A business centre in Terminal 1 has meeting rooms, secretarial services and telephone, fax and internet provision. Osaka airport is fully accessible, which includes 60 disabled car parking spaces close to the terminal.
