One of the more unusual attractions is a small mud volcano that popped into existence on the Coccia di Morto roundabout in 2013! Although currently dormant, local geologists (and road cleaners) are keeping a careful eye on it just in case it becomes active again.
Shopping in Fiumicino is surprisingly good, and if you don’t want to fight through the crowds in nearby Rome then there is plenty to buy in the new Malo Moda mall or the smaller boutiques in the town itself.
