On flights from Entebbe to Tokyo with Qatar Airways, experience unparalleled levels on comfort augmented by a range of world-class services. Stretch your legs and relax in spacious seating and enjoy a range of quality offerings, including thousands of entertainment options and gourmet cuisine, presented to you by an award-winning cabin crew.

Tokyo is a stunning city that never seems to pause. It’s a dynamic financial hub, and despite its rapid advancement, the city continues to burst with heritage and culture. It’s this mix of old and new that contributes to its fascination, making it a top tourist destination for travellers from around the world. Among its major attractions is the Imperial Palace, occupying its own ornate gardens and standing as a reminder of a glorious past, and in the Tokyo National Museum you’ll find a huge selection of interesting artefacts and displays.

Flying from Entebbe

Located near the stunning Lake Victoria and just 40 kilometres southwest of Uganda’s capital Kampala, Entebbe International Airport is the country’s key air transport hub and a busy departure point for both business and leisure travellers.

This airport is currently undergoing a major redevelopment that will last until 2033, envisioned to establish it as one of the most modern and innovative air transport centres in Africa.

Passengers flying from Entebbe with Qatar Airways will find that, although small, this is an incredibly efficient and well organised centre, and welcoming staff go out of their way to make the start of your journey one to remember.

Transportation and parking

The easiest way to get to Entebbe International Airport is by hire car or taxi. If you are travelling from Kampala then taxis are available. It is best to book these in advance via your hotel concierge to ensure your cab is an official and correctly metered taxi.

There are airport transfer services available, which again can be arranged by your hotel reception or concierge in advance. Buses do run from Entebbe town, but tend to be very crowded and somewhat sporadic.

Parking is available at the airport, but currently it is limited and in high demand.

Arriving at the airport

Passengers flying from Entebbe with Qatar Airways depart from the main terminal’s Departures area. Security is very tight at the airport, and customs checks can take some time, including baggage searches.

It is advisable to arrive at least two hours before your flight is due to board to check in and pass through security checks, and ensure that all your paperwork is in order before you arrive at the airport.

Facilities and amenities

Although limited, the facilities and amenities at the airport are adequate for most travellers’ needs. Duty Free shops sell a range of goods, while vendors also supply passengers with travel essentials, books, magazines, and drinks.

There are some food outlets for on-the-go snacks, as well as mother-and-baby changing areas, VIP lounge for business and first class passengers, and Wi-Fi in some areas of the terminal.

Arriving in Narita, Tokyo

While most people will constrain their visit to Narita purely to travel to and from the airport on the way to nearby Tokyo, the town itself does have plenty to offer visitors who are willing to stop and look around. Book a flight to Narita with Qatar Airways and you could discover this interesting little destination for yourself, before you head to the bright lights of Tokyo.

Charming and with plenty of traditional Japanese character, Narita is a relatively tranquil location that gives visitors a taste of the real Japan. The people are friendly and welcoming, and are happy to show tourists willing to interrupt their journey to the capital around their little town. Nearby attractions make this off-the-beaten-track location well worth exploring.

Tourist attractions

The town is known for its ancient buildings, and one of the best is the Naritasan Shinshō-ji Temple, the site of which dates back to the 10th century. Classical pagodas and tranquil gardens are complemented by a European style garden too, making it an interesting fusion of two distinctly different cultures.

To really understand a little more about Japanese culture, take a trip to Boso No Mura, a living museum dedicated to the culture of the Japanese people. It includes a reconstructed traditional Japanese street, burial mound and a samurai residence. The centre hosts festivals and events celebrating the native culture of Japan’s islands too.

The Museum of Aeronautical Science is about 15 minutes by bus from the airport, while at the northern end of the runway you’ll find a surprisingly tranquil spot, Sakura-no-Yama Hill. This is a great spot to watch the aeroplanes take off and land, and during the spring the cherry trees turn this peaceful little park into a riot of colour.

Travel Considerations

Flights to Narita with Qatar Airways land at Narita Airport, Japan’s largest international air transport hub. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure. Before you fly to Narita please check the visa and passport requirements.
