Supplier Code of Conduct
1 - Policy and objectives
Purpose
At the Qatar Airways Group, we believe in our responsibility to care about the source of goods or services we procure and consume as a group of organisations. We aim to work together globally with suppliers to develop a sustainable, social and ethical procurement programme.
Scope
This document describes the Qatar Airways Group’s minimum set of values that we wish our suppliers to respect with respect to labour, health and safety, the environment and business ethics.
2 - Guidelines
Labour
Forced or compulsory labour is prohibited. Human Rights should be respected and protected in all supplier activities. Our suppliers must not engage in or be complicit in human rights abuses.
Child labour is prohibited. Specifically suppliers must not use workers below 14 years of age or, if higher than that age, the minimum age of employment permitted by the law of the country or countries where the performance, in whole or in part, of a contract takes place, or the age of the end of compulsory schooling in that country or countries, whichever is higher. Suppliers must adhere to all applicable legal requirements as to types of work, working conditions, healthcare, safety and education.
Discrimination is not tolerated. Suppliers shall use their best endeavours to ensure equality of opportunity and treatment in respect of employment and occupation without discrimination on grounds of race, colour, sex, religion, political opinion, national extraction or social origin and such other ground as may be recognised under applicable law.
Wages, working hours and working conditions are legally adhered too. Suppliers must pay wages in legal tender, at regular intervals no longer than one month, in full and directly to the workers concerned. The wages, hours of work and working conditions provided by suppliers must be in accordance with applicable law.
Harassment, harsh or inhumane treatment is not tolerated. All workers must be treated with dignity and respect and suppliers must not use any threats of violence, sexual exploitation or abuse, verbal or psychological harassment or abuse. No harsh or inhumane treatment coercion or corporal punishment of any kind is tolerated, nor is there to be the threat of any such treatment.
Health and safety
Health and safety is paramount. Suppliers shall use their best endeavours to ensure that they take all necessary measures to ensure as safe and healthy a work place as is possible, including providing all necessary training to their staff.
Environment
At the Qatar Airways Group, we believe in our responsibility to care for the environment. Our ambition is to demonstrate environmental leadership throughout our global operations. We aim to achieve lower carbon emissions to help tackle climate change, manage our impact on the local environment and help protect natural resources.
We expect that our suppliers will align with the objectives of the Qatar Airways Group’s
Supplier Code of Conduct and will:
- Contribute to the Qatar Airways Group’s Environmental Objectives and enable, where relevant, measurably improved performance in relation to energy and climate change; waste; water and land; noise and air quality; and nature conservation.
- Have in place an environmental policy, which is up to date, supported by the most senior person within the supplier’s organisation and communicated to employees.
- Comply with relevant national and local legislation and regulations relating to the environmental impact of the suppliers’ products, services and general business activities.
Ethics
Suppliers are expected to adhere to the highest standards of moral and ethical conduct, to respect local laws and not engage in any form of corrupt practices, including but not limited to extortion, fraud, or bribery.
Suppliers are required to disclose any situation that may appear as a conflict of interest. Suppliers are responsible for ensuring any information disclosed by the Qatar Airways Group is treated as strictly confidential.
3 - Application
Application to suppliers
The Qatar Airways Group reserves the right to undertake inspections as part of its ongoing monitoring of compliance, in consultation with suppliers. Suppliers must maintain and be able to provide the Qatar Airways Group with documentation which demonstrates compliance with this Supplier Code of Conduct on request.
Supply chain transparency is vital. Suppliers must, on request from time to time supply relevant documents and information including, but not limited to, supplier factory locations, supplier sub-contractor names and locations and results of historic audits. Suppliers must ensure that documentation is retained to enable them to meet those requirements and demonstrate compliance with this Supplier Code of Conduct.
The Qatar Airways Group shall have the right to conduct onsite audits, review and approve corrective action plans, verify implementation of corrective action throughout the supply chain and require suppliers to work in a collaborative way to improve supply chain standards.
